The Most Significant Extracurricular
Activity in My School

The tradition of involving students in extracurricular
activities was established long ago to give students in my country's schools a
well-rounded education. Every Wednesday, extracurricular activities are held at
every school in the nation through various groups, which students join based on
their interests. In my country, many schools have clubs such as the Nature
Club, Home Science Club, Art and Craft Club, Peer Counseling Club, Music and
Dance Club, Literary Club, Democracy Club, and so on. It is encouraged for
students to use this platform to demonstrate their skills and assets outside of
the classroom (UNESCO, 2012). Additionally, kids are allowed to learn more
outside of the classroom.
One of the significant extracurricular activities
conducted in my school is the community engagement program. We consistently
engage our students through such programs with the hope that they build respect
and understanding in a diverse world. We are aware that when we are socially
connected, our communities serve as a rich supply of many concepts, ideas,
facts, and resources from which the collective elements are mobilized. As part
of this program, students are taken to the village every month to assist the
locals with their jobs while being accompanied by their mentors. Students will
be able to form solid social bonds and a sense of belonging and connectedness
via their work and interactions with the locals, which will enable them to
succeed in life with better attitudes, values, and objectives while fully
embracing all parts of life. Through cross-pollination, collaboration, and
greater connectedness with the locals, students are exposed to positive values,
responsibilities, and respect through community involvement that benefits them
in the long term. The most crucial aspect of anyone's existence, though, is
socialization. It's advantageous for students' future performance and
well-being because it not only helps them socialize and acquire social values
and conventions (Stride, Inc., 2022).
Our main expectation through such a program is that
each student understands social and economic sustainability issues in the
community with an awareness of some community problems, learns some basic
farming skills, develops their sense of civic efficacy, and increases their
desire to help people in their mind so that they can develop personally for
life. After the commencement of the program, to determine the success of the
activity carried out, each student is asked to write a reflection on what they
have learned from the community engagement program, reflecting on the conversation
they had with the people and the exchange of ideas that went through.
