Why The Definition of the Curriculum Resonates with My Educative Perspective

Why The Definition of the Curriculum Resonates with My Educative Perspective

According to IAHPC Pallipedia (2017), the curriculum is “An educational plan that describes which goals and objectives should be achieved; which topics should be covered; and which methods are to be used for learning, teaching, and evaluation. It is defined as a planned educational experience.”

The reason why this definition resonates with my educative perspective is that my teaching philosophy strongly agrees with the above definition because I believe that goals and objectives play a vital role as they act as a blueprint for the implementation process for any activities systematically as a checklist to fulfill the desired outcomes (Su, 2012). As a curriculum implementer, I should know which specific goals and objectives are required to be covered, what topics I should use in fulfilling the goals and objectives, and what methods are to be used so that I can be able to process with effective teaching and learning process through meaningful evaluations using appropriate materials and assessment tools that support the entire process.

From the definition given above, it is understood that a curriculum acts as a central guide for the educational process that enables students to get rigorous and meaningful academic experiences based on the methodologies described to facilitate instructions in the classroom for better learning (RIDE, 2021). A teacher becomes incomplete if he or she is not guided by the curriculum because they won’t know what materials to use, what the process is, and so on during the implementation process. Achieving the goals would be difficult. I seriously feel that curriculum should be best based on the needs of the children and the objectives of the country as a whole so that the educationist would be able to produce productive citizens as a result catering to the wholesome development of any learners through common goals.

Finally, as the curriculum describes the goals and objectives, it would allow the educator to be on the steady, organized path (Williams, 2019) in the creation of culture and identity through meaningful reflections based on the country’s expectations of their youths in line with the changing world and social needs (Chalk, 2021). Thus, a Curriculum is necessary for a better process to meet the expected result.
